Interactive white boards to be installed

Middle and elementary schools in the Kirkwood School District are on their way to having interactive white boards. Last month, the School Board approved the purchase of 73 Promethean Activeboard brand interactive white boards for a total of $299,300. Similar boards have already been installed in the majority of Kirkwood High School classes.? Teachers will be able to utilize Active-votes, a system that includes wireless devices for each student allowing them to respond anonymously to questions. This will bypass the fear many students get when faced with having to have subjects re-explained because they did not understand it the first time. ? The district plans to install 144 white boards in the middle and elementary schools by autumn 2009.

The game was sponsored by the Old Bonhomme Dads’ Club, which estimated 693 people participated. Currently, the record stands at 448. Officials with Guinness were still in the process of verifying the number at Central Newsmagazine’s press time.
