Fire crews rescue window washer

By Ted Dixon Jr.

A local window washer spent a few interesting moments on the afternoon of May 5 as fire crews had to rescue him as he was hanging from scaffolding on a 4-story building in Town & Country.

West Country EMS and Fire Protection District Community Liaison Officer Kim Bacon said the incident took place around noon on May 5, in the 400 block of South Woods Mill Road, near Hwy. 141. The building is a typical office building-type structure.

Bacon said the worker, who did not want to be identified, had a problem with his safety harness and was hanging from the rooftop of the building. Bacon said rescue workers arrived and were able to send a safety line to the rooftop. Bacon said the worker was lowered to the ladder and sent to safety.

“It took about 10 minutes to get him to the ground,” Bacon said.

Bacon said the worker was not injured in the incident.
