The St. Louis Fine Print and Paper Arts Fair will open with a reception from 6 to 9 p.m. on May 16 and will continue from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sat., May 17 and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sun., May 18 at the J.C. Penney Conference Center at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Rare Benjamin Franklin prints and more than 40 local and national print and rare book dealers displaying prints, drawings, rare books, fine printing and photographs are featured. Admission to the opening reception is $50 ($90 per couple) and includes admission on both days of the fair; admission on Saturday and Sunday is $5 per day and $1.50 with student identification. Bark in the Park, a dog walk and festival, will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 17 at Cricket Field in Forest Park. Performances by the Purina Incredible Dog Team, an adoption center, kids’ inflatable play area, pet contests, live bluegrass music and more will be featured. Admission is $25 for adults, $5 for children younger than age 12 and free for children younger than age 3. Proceeds benefit the Dr. Doolittle Fund that provides veterinary care for homeless animals. The Festival of Food and Flowers will begin at 10 a.m. on May 17 in downtown Kirkwood. Participating businesses will offer a free six-pack of annual flowers to those making a $5 purchase or a $5 donation to help families of the victims of the Feb. 7 shootings at Kirkwood City Hall. A Gardening Center in the Reim Plaza will include a Kirkwood Garden Club plant sale, and garden experts will be on hand to answer gardening questions. Numerous artists will show and sell their work at “Artists in Bloom” at Kirkwood Station Plaza. Live entertainment will be featured throughout the day. “Breakthroughs Today, Cures for Tomorrow,” NARSAD’s fifth annual St. Louis Mental Health Research Symposium, will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on May 18 at the Washington University Medical Center Eric P. Newman Education Center (320 South Euclid). “Living with Schizophrenia,” “Depression: Evidence of Onset as Early as Age 3,” “Vagus Nerve Stimulation: A New Treatment of Severe Depression” and “Anxiety Disorders: Role of Cognition Regulating Emotion” will be the featured topics.
